Hey, my sweet people!
Today I wanted to share with you a link to a website that I’ve been enjoying with my friends recently! The website is called Manage My Music, and it gives you essentially what would be in your Spotify Wrapped playlist at the end of the year, and much more!
When you sign into this site with Spotify, it gives you a list of your top 50 artists, as well as your top 50 songs. The cool thing is that it gives you your top 50 lists from different increments of time. So, you see your top songs and artists from the past 4 weeks, past 6 months, and long-term (since you’ve had your Spotify account). The site’s data updates daily, so if you refresh the page you’ll get an updated list within seconds!
Today, I thought it would be fun to share with y’all the top 10 songs I’ve listened to, according to this site, in the past 4 weeks!
Here is the link to the playlist that I created on Spotify, as well as the link to my Spotify account if you want to follow me for more playlists! If you do use the site, be sure to message me, or comment your top tunes!
1. Jax Jones, Instruction (feat. Demi Lovato & Stefflon Don)
I have playlists for everything, and this one is at the top of both my workout playlist, and my walking to class playlist. The fast beat is great to walk or run to, and I like the empowerment in the lyrics. Also, shoutout to Demi. I hope you’re doing well, girl.
2. J Balvin, Peligrosa (feat. Wisin y Yandel)
This is a really good song to dance to. The beat is infectious, and J Balvin’s “Vibras” album is impeccable.
3. Lola Indigo, Ya No Quiero Ná
Ooh, where do I even begin. My girl Mimi, known by the stage alter-ego Lola Indigo, is killing the game. She was the first of the 16 eliminated in this past season of Operación Triunfo (Spanish Idol), but she is now one of the most successful among the group. This song is such a girl-power anthem with both originality, and a familiar J-Lo-esque type of vibe. I have a sticker of my favorite lyric from this song on my laptop; “en la baraja la reina soy yo,” meaning “in the deck I am the queen.”
4. Aitana, TELÉFONO
Another fabulous member of Operación Triunfo’s 2017 cast, Aitana, did not fail to impress with her first solo project. I spent the past 8 months obsessed with “Lo Malo,” my number 11 of the month that just barely missed the cut, so I was ready to dive into something new from Aiti. Another bop all about girl power.
5. 2Pac, Keep Ya Head Up
2Pac is a legendary rapper whose music captivates audiences today as much as it did when it came out in the 90’s. This song is from a male point of support empowering women, specifically women of color, to be empowered and independent. It’s a great message with an incredible beat.
6. Christina Aguilera, Fighter
This song was linked in my last blog post, but what a tune. It’s my go-to when I’m sad, mad, tired, or in need of motivation. I won’t say much because I think that the lyrics stand strongly alone.
7. Celia Cruz, La Negra Tiene Tumbao
This song was talked about in my The 5 Songs I’d Take With Me To Another Planet post, but basically it gets me to dance automatically. Not a lot of people would expect it out of me, but I love love love salsa music and I firmly believe that Celia is the absolute queen of salsa.
8. Vetusta Morla, Deséame Suerte
In my “The 5 Songs I’d Take With Me To Another Planet” post, I talked about “Copenhague,” by this group. It is one of my favorite songs on the planet. This is the most popular song off of Vetusta Morla’s latest album (can we just take a moment to swoon over this cover art?), and I am all here for it. There’s something about this group’s music that makes it definitively stand out in my mind, but I haven’t quite put my finger on it yet. This is a great tune with awesome lyrics if you’re looking for some introspective prompting.
9. Agoney, Quizás
Agoney is also from the latest season of Operation Triunfo (can you tell that I absolutely love that cast?). I fell in love with Agoney’s voice when I saw him sing “Manos Vacias,” live at the Bernabéu concert the cast did in June. I’m thinking of writing another post alone about that song, and the amazing fact that the largest television network in Spain embraced and orchestrated visibility for LGBTQ+ love on one of their most viewed programs. This is his first solo single, and I am in love with every aspect of it. The empowering lyrics, the great beat, his beautiful falsettos, and his wardrobe in the video. The pale pinks made me inexplicably happy.
10. CNCO, Se Vuelve Loca
This one is another great tune for dancing. I like CNCO since I love reggaeton and have a secret soft spot for boybands. Being that they’re a reggaeton boyband, they have my heart. This is one’s my favorite off of their newest album.
There you have it, my friends, what’s been in my ears the most these past few weeks! I hope you enjoy the playlist, and do comment down below or on my Instagram with your top songs! I’d love to hear them!
With so much love,
